We like to think of the Lake Tahoe Tahoe Regency as our very own lake house. In fact, we decided we will never need to purchase a lake house vacation home, because we can use Chase Ultimate Rewards transferred to Hyatt to go to the Tahoe Regency as often as we like and they treat us like family.
The Globalist breakfast is wonderful and we have been upgraded to a lake side two bedroom cottage every single time we have stayed, so far 3 out of 3 times even once when we booked same day.
Since we are a family of 6 we always book two rooms, a standard kind and a standard two queen and I ask our MHC* to call and confirm that we can have connecting rooms and also make a note on the reservation that we would love to be upgraded to a two bedroom cottage. So far we hav eonly been in the winter time for snowboarding and we think that maybe people why pay for the best rooms prefer not to be in the cottages because you do have to cross the snowy outdoors to get to breakfast and the amazing pool. We love to spend time outside and even more love being able to see the lake from our windows and our balcony or patio.
When we have booked these rooms the rate was 21,000 or 25,000 and the cost of the 2 bedroom lakeside cottages is around $3,000-$4,000 making this a very great points redemption of more than 14 - 16 cents per point! Thats before free valet parking and breakfast is factored into the equation.
